“We are all mad here…” first collaboration of Enigma Bazaar Collective
We are very proud to share with the world our very first collaboration we did for Future Art exhibition in Australia.
I wanted to share with you some inside stories of a bunch of artists friends having fun creating this Artworks.
I have been invited to take part of the special Easter Future Art Exhibition, and my idea was that my 2nd work should be a collaboration. Naturally, I contacted Kristy Glas, as my friend in the space, and we realised that it would be a nice opportunity to share it with the Enigma Team. And the response has been awesome. We took the Alice in Wonderlands subject to heart, and we decided the Mad Hatter Tea party was the best setting to express our different style and express our very own universes. The perfect idea for a collab.
Our fist collective choice has been to name Crowley for our mad hatter. He is our Enigma Bazaar Collective (EBC) founder and we love him to bits. The idea of a crow with a hat made the central point.
Then DeathHimself jump to create the layout and table – with his kid’s crayons he drafted what will be our materpiece. The table has to be long and able to fit a lot of caracters around it.
Death did a crazy setting with a gothic tea set and a death cake. What’s not to enjoy there .
Once oil painted on a frame, and digitilise, Mandelsage had a go with the scenary
We made a democratic choice of colours. We were all in awe with the details.
And then we started to add all the characters for this mad teaparty.
Daniel Orsini had much fun designing this beautiful white rabbit. If you look in the details of the watch… there is his Yuki!!!
And Kristy went naturally for the Chester Cat – what else!!! giving him a jolly crazy look. But you still want to pet him so bad.
Bunessa added the soft gentle touch with very first digital watercolour and the mouse in the pot, sleeping peacefully. This is the most poetic part of the artwork, bringing some innocence in the madness. (I think we can feel the pregnancy kicking in :) )
I had myself a go to with the Drunk Caterpillar. I had to work on it during my day job during my tea breaks with my watercolour. But I loved the idea of a mignon caterpillar, not smoking, but just drunk, who is missing the party.
Emotionull just got on board halfway this collab, but managed to create a so fun Tweedledumb and Tweedledee – he embraced the collective spirit so quickly and got super quick to embed his fun work in the collab.
Alhucard added a mouse friend and some cool insects on the table.
And we had issues with Alice. With some technical issues, we were lucky that Bunessa got a Alice ready for the collab. It was not a related work, but when we saw it, it was an obvious choice.
Though, Judy did a lot of work on Alice before her computer crashed, so we have managed to had her paper alice on the table, lost in the tea set. We thought it was a nice and fun touch she worked on it while at het Radio studio.
Noah added his psychedelic touch to the sky
And Chewy created a stone Queen, QueenOfHeart95. That was the most difficult element to place. It was due to be in the sky, but would have hidden Noah’s Sky. So I played around and make her on her way to leave.
Mew added some play cards as well playing on the table.
All the ingredient were all here. And the result was stunning. Mandelsage, Death and I worked on the final lay out. The crow got attributed mignon eyes and a big hat to get more character.
And I realised, that the picture was telling a fun story itself… and I wrote few words, Mandelsage edited it… and we had a massive laugh reding it – all elements were clicking nicely for a fun tale of Alice
«Alice was following a weird white rabbit through the country. Her mum told her a million times to be cautious with rabbits that carry watches. But people never listen enough to the wise advice from their mummies.
After 100 miles of racing after the crazy bunny, she arrived at a special party… A tea party!
The rabbit did not want to share a word with the crazy lady who was weirdly following him. He just wanted to have some fun with his friends, the Crow Hatter, the sleepy mice, the drunk caterpillar, Tweedledumb and Tweedledee…
The card security kept on asking them to leave the party, as they were far too drunk and high. But the white bunny did not want to. He took another angry look at his watch. His Tinder Date was once again late. But here she is, QueenOfHearts95, just arrived and trying to apologize for being late. “It’s okay this time. But I hate late people” replied the rabbit impatiently.
“Wow wow wow” shouted the Crow Hatter, falling with love with the lady. Tweedledumb and Tweedledee didn’t understand what was special about this girl… While the mice were sleeping through everything… And nobody really took notice of Alice, who was lost in this crazy world, except for a really strange cat in a tree, who was smiling at her with a mad grin and wild eyes.»
This artwork transpires the genuine friendship in the collective. Even if some member could not take part because of time, like A L Crego, they were here to support all way long.
A truly meaning full collab of 13 artists straight from our heart and bubbling imagination.
