NFT in 2019 — We started minting on The Editional App — and this is where we are now.

Back in 2019, in the early days on NFT, John Egan launched the Editional App — The idea was simple, an app that looks like Instagram in the practical aspects, but in real, was minting the artworks and pictures that was shared on the app to protect the owner of the pictures, and enabled the users to share for free their images as a digital collectibles.

A bunch of artists and collectors started to log and connect together — for a majority of us, NFT and CryptoArt was an unknown world.

So we were loading our digital assets, there was a software to Edit the picture, choosing how many editions we wanted to make available (1 to 10) and launch it. The collectibles were numbered and the 1st edition was automatically saved for the creator. Some artists were really popular. Osavage created waves of madness as soon he was minting.

I personaly joined the app at a transition period in my life — Like a mini crisis point where I was wondering where I was heading with my career in Marketing, and try to find motivation and inspiration. I remembered that I had one regret is the one I did not have the courage to carry on my Art School and decided to go for more corporate study. So I sent a text to one of my good friend to understand how to resume Art School while working — and Fanny mentioned that I should probably start creating on Editional App. I did not really see the link first, but I have downloaded the app, logg to it, had a funny seed phrase to keep precisously (on what space do we have a secret seed phrase… If I knew at that time…) and I started posted… and the response was quick, all disapeared so quickly and got cool feedbacks from the guys on it. And I started collecting from the orther artists — I was blown away by the quality of the Art there — forward looking, from a different future- and I became addicted. we chatted a lot under each drop.

But then, one day, the app disapeared. we had few warnings a couple of months in advance and one day, as dictated, in November 2019, the app did not open.

For me it looked like the end of my Crypto Story.

And, in July 2020, I realised by accident that ALL the 1,000+ NFTs I had collected were stored on Opensea on my account… But how to connect to it… I spent few days with Opensea on their Discord, found my weird seed phrase noted on a random piece of paper I kept for no reason…. and access all back!

I felt a lot nostalgic. I browsed my twitter and realised that a lot of Editional Generation artists became OG in cryptoart — I was so proud of them. I was wondering how they did and realised there were platforms out there existing. I have get in touch with my Editional Friend Abysms and he explained me step by step how to get back in the Game. End of July, I minted my first NFT on Rarible when they were starting their ascension and shortly sold my first CryptoArt to Mario Klingemann. I realised that time have changed and thing will be interesting in a different way.

Since, I have made my way in NFTs, and I am so glad to be able to grow as an artist with my fellow Editional Friends.

Let’s see what happenned since they started on Editional and today. I have asked them to give me few sentences of what happened since, and to send me their Ealy NFT from Editional and their latest work. I love being back in touch with them, and see how their Styles evolved.

“It feels like a lifetime. When I joined Editional in 2019 I had little idea of what exactly I was embarking on. The NFT and CryptoArt space was just a baby. Few knew anything about how to use it. In that time “minting” felt like science fiction, like a mythical story told. This was the power of Editional, it took that unknown process and allowed

ANYONE to mint, anyone could make a piece of art and put it on the ethereum chain with just the push of a couple buttons. It didn’t feel all that different from InstaGram. I met and interacted with many wonderful artists their, they encouraged me in my artistic creativity and were so wonderful to share ideas and art with. Shortly after getting on Editional, I applied to SuperRare and eventually got in. This began an entire new journey for me as I now could sell art for ETH and share with an even bigger community. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to be featured in several publications and have been a trending artist on both KO (KnownOrigin) and SR (SuperRare). I have made some incredible connections with people and have had opportunity to explore my artistic expression in ways I never dreamt. Between these two platforms I have sold over 200 artworks which is stunning to me. I have made. Countless friends and had the chance to be part of building a community which is global. Recently I have been able to work with this global community in a really special way doing one of the largest collaborative works to date. LayerBreaker, which is over 60 artists and over 284 states, made by artists from over 25 countries will be released on the Async programable art platform soon. It marks a truly remarkable step forward in globalization of art and economy. This is only the beginning!”

“In 2020, I was creating artworks at my own pace, publishing and selling them, but in 2021, crypto art and NFT are rapidly spreading in Japan. I’m so excited, because every day there’s new news, one after another! My works are now worth a little more than they used to be.

The oldest of my works is “blues” and the latest one is “encounter on the dissection table -解剖台上の邂逅-”. In my recent works, I have used some motifs that I created in “additional”. This is a “return to basics” and an experiment to find new value in my past works. “blues”

markup art[1] — Pointshark 1st Editional NFT, 5th June 2019

“Editional gave me my first taste of collecting and creating art. My real life career had transitioned full time to a computer at this point, and I had been feeling the need to create. I was collecting NFTs, and a friend from the space turned me onto Editional. I was so new, that my first series “Markup Art” was created completely using a construction document pdf markup up tool. The people and collectors in the Editional social scene had given me inspiration and motivation through encouraging words and collecting my art. That’s all I needed to decide to continue on my personal NFT and creation journey. Looking back humbles me. The relationships made are still going strong, and so is the art. I’ve been able to be accepted to makersplace, and have launched an NFT gaming asset project on rarible. We all still remain, and so does the fire.”

“Since 2019, I’ve minted dozens of works across KnownOrigin, Rarible, Ephiera, as well as my own Storefronts via OpenSea, and even a few works on pixEOS.

I’ve also recently been selected to be part of Playform Art’s year-long Digital Artist Residency program, and have been working on a series trained on my travel photographs of Puerto Rico.

Over the course of my NFT journey, I’ve dabbled with various mediums including, but not limited to: digital paintings and abstracts, glitches and moshes, GAN-assisted pieces, AI-trained works, instant photography and self-portraiture.”

“ Well as for me finding the editional app was kind of a divine timing. It was a platform to release all artistic pictures I’ve been holding in my head. I really enjoyed it wish editional was still here. After editional I got on Instagram which I still do and platform like KO, rarible , opensea and foundation . I was fortunate last year to partner with Jess conester owner and curator of studioasweare and onetime square New York for the VNYE 2021. Overall I like the way nft is growing I never I expected it this fast”

“Since 2019 many things have happened. I’ve grown as an artist an incredible amount, have been able to give back to the CryptoArt community and help new artists establish their presence. One of the first artists to have their social token included in other Collectible NFT projects on Opensea as well.”

“I am Carolina (Editable team). Just few words for giving you a quick update about what I did after Editional. Unfortunately, 2020 was a hard year for me. I got into a divorce and I must leave USA, coming back to Spain alone. I started here from scratch, so I was trying to survive, and without money to invest in minting, just focus on work as marketer. I didn’t forget blockchain world, and in fact, I am enrolled as PhD student of Digital Humanities in a Spanish university, and the field of my research is CRYPTO ART!!!!! About my recent digital artworks, I updated my last works on Instagram @mcarolinasanchiz , but none are minting. I am saving money to start minting again, And considering to mint on NFT eco friendly marketplaces. Maybe they are not the best commercial solution right now, but perhaps they will be a rare collection in the future?

Mª Carolina Sanchiz Latest NFT 2021

and this is more or less my update.”
