Enigma Super Hero Artist Spotlight — The Dark Matter Artist, AL Crego
Enigma Bazaar Collective is a bunch of very different cryptoartists now becoming family. Let’s get to know them a little bit more, and get to jump in their very own universe.
In today’s spotlight, let’s meet AL Crego, the master of the Dark matter and his mesmirising “Visual Massage”. His artworks are a Ombres Et Lumières visual poetry. A treat for the eyes.
1/ Tell me a little bit about you?
This is always the harder question. I think I create to discover it. But as a quick summary, since child I was really close to all kind of arts with no knowledge that there were art, such as literature, writing, music, photography. I studied stone sculpting during 2 years and then two frustrated attempts of studying photography and audiovisual degree. I gave up both times because I realized that my vision and ideas of it was very different. Despite I don’t have any degree, I consider myself a ‘studying person’ as I am always researching both in history (not only of art) as in more technological and futuristic themes.
2/ How would you describe your Art?
I like to think about the format I use more (gif) as Visual Mantras mixed with some poetry without using words and all this wrapped with a techno/biological tint. I can’t know, it’s always mutating, I don’t care about styles or ‘isms’. They help us to understand art, but once done, they just limit our ideas.
3/ What kind of superhero are you? What is your super power?
Super Normal Guy. In a world where everybody is ‘different’, being normal is the rare.
4/ How long have you been in Crypto Wonderland? who / what has been the rabbit that led you to the hole of CryptoArt?
I entered about March 2019 when Makersplace invited me but without being really aware of how all the ecosystem worked, so at first I just gave some steps inside to check the place but these months I was totally involved in another Street Art projects so I couldn’t pay too much attention. Back in September 2020 was when I got really involved, and the main reason (the rabbit) was the option of certifying my work as an original work. I needed a way to protect my work as it has been ‘stolen’ and used a lot of times with commercial purposes.
5/ In this mad hatter tea party, with the euphoria around cryptoart and NFT, your fav cryptoartist in the space? And your fav piece of art?
It’s impossible. Every day there is a new favorite! But one person I usually love every time he publishes something is Lucas Aguirre (Twitter
@lvcasaguirre). I think he is doing incredible works because he found a really sweet point to work with his physical painting pieces and the digital tools to create a new work that mixes both with no loss of any of them. 6/ Part of a league of superhero, what is it like to be part of the Enigma Bazaar Collective?
I must say that I feel totally honored because I entered the space totally alone and quite lost but I quickly stumbled upon with nice people who proposed me to join the Collective, he was the kind guy Mandelasage. Since then, despite I haven’t had too much time to go down the rabbit hole, it’s really nice to feel company and to know that they were the first who offered some digital shelter.
